we were excited to meet phoenix local kelsey wong,
(co-ophx’s co-creator along with sydney rea)
kelsey is on a personal year-long mission to not buy new clothing.
she’s leading the way with her initiative for ‘cooperative action for sustainable fashion’.
this sunday, april 29th, she’ll be hosting the 2nd annual co-ophx’s clothing swap!
what is a clothing swap?
well… don’t we all have those items in our closet that we just never wore. maybe it’s those clothes that are cute but just never fit quite right. how about all those great dresses we’re just tired of from last summer.
this is the perfect opportunity to swap them out for something new.
swappers are invited to bring up to 10 once-loved items (clothing/shoes/accessories) and leave with up to 10 new items for a new season.
frances and smeeks are really excited to be contributing to this project!
we’re also excited about all the other amazing local collaborators:
carbon magazine, fashion phoenix, made boutique, mary may, style tutors, queen creek olive mill, bad lucy, grow-op, and eclectic monkey emporium.
all unswapped clothing will be donated to local charity, sojourner center,
which is a center dedicated to helping women and children who are victims of domestic violence.
find out all the details here.
the event, which includes tasty refreshments from queen creek olive mill, will cost $10 to swap.
we were lucky enough to get two free entrance passes for our readers!
