some of you may know local crafter lynne bonnell
for her knitting workshops and festive fall pumpkins sold at frances.
come see all the goods she’s bringing to crafeteria!
what inspired you to start your business?
i love to create – all sorts of things – always, even while working for a large corporation for 23 years. i feel compelled to. it is a joy for me. i love making something new out of something that had a previous purpose. knitting has been a passion since i was 6 and sewing since age 7, and have not stopped since.
tell us a bit about your work and your favorite materials you use:
the materials change all the time, from velvet to leather, wire and reed, and all things in between. textiles usually factor in, with velvet snowmen, wool trees, burlap and linen bags and pillows, and now leather items. everything interests me, especially creating ‘reconfigured goods’.
what is your favorite spot in phoenix?
actually, i would say it is my home. it is my sanctuary and my prison, at times. i have lots of room to create and i don’t have to put it all away every night. it is a great space to work and live.
keep your eyes out for lynne’s classes during our next round of frances’ workshops in the spring!

Arizona Olive Wood
was founded in 2012 by Michael McNamara. It is a collection of serving plates, cheese boards and cutting boards made from locally sourced olive wood. All pieces are made by hand in a ranch house in central Phoenix. It is dedicated to keeping olive wood out of our landfills and putting it where it belongs: on display.
By day, Michael McNamara is the senior photographer at SRP. At night and on the weekends, he can be found crafting his one-of-a-kind olive woodboards, entertaining his two neurotic dogs, and preparing to be a first-time dad by completing various projects around the house.
